Are you really breathing?
Years ago, a friend of mine was in an accident and broke her nose.
The doctors told her it would heal just fine, and she didn’t think much of it.
But recently, a different doctor noticed that her nose had healed in a way that blocked almost 90% of her airway.
She was barely getting enough oxygen, and she didn’t even know it.
After surgery to reopen the airway, she told me that she felt like a new person.
“I feel like I have superpowers now”, she said. “I sleep better, I think better, and I have much more energy.”
That shows the power of breath, and even if you haven’t had your breathing traumatically impaired like my friend had, there’s a good chance that you might have slipped into the habit of shallow breathing.
If you aren’t breathing deeply, you might be almost as bad off as someone with a blocked airway, and you might not even realize that anything is wrong.
Let’s use today’s workout as a test. As you’re grooving, I want you to intentionally breathe as deeply as you can. Fill up your lungs completely, and empty them as much as you can.
